Women are not easy to read
Tuesday, 01 September 2009 21:38

Why are women so hard to read?

I can figure out all manner of complicated mathematics and computational equations, I can even walk straight whilst pretty pissed - but I cannot, for the life of me, figure women out.

Wish something was easy for once!

Blergh!

Hi guys!

Long time no update and all that shizam.  Been very, very busy for the past 4 or so months.  Life threw me a panda-sized curve ball and dropped me squarely on my fine ass rather nicely.  In all fairness, events could have turned out MUCH worse, but then AIDS could always have turned out worse (not sure where I was quite going with that, oh well!).

I'll spare the lengthy details and just state that somehow in the space of 4 months I've managed to be single, get a social life again for the first time in about forever (an ever improving one at that too!), and I'm on a games design and teaching course that could quite possibly end up putting me in a whole array of jobs on top of the large list already.  Can't wait!

So whilst one door closes (a period of my life I shall never forget), many more open.  I'm loving my new vastly improved social life (why I ever let women control this aspect of my life I'll never know), loving the course (although lack of interaction with peeps is a bit of a bummer) - the only thing I need to sort out now is the single aspect of my life.

Here's hoping!

(And I still hate stupid people)

DarkSpace momentum
Wednesday, 24 December 2008 12:23

As a few of you no-doubt know, I am a developer for DarkSpace.  A couple of months ago we shipped version 1.5, which whilst being incredibly awesome, had a few flaws to say the least.  PaleStar, DarkSpace's own publisher, recently brought on another pair of hands - Jeff "Maverick" Everett.  For a long, long time, DarkSpace has been running in the majority of Richard "Faustus" Lyle's hands, and almost all work has been done by him (from versions 1.483, and before).  With version 1.5, a few hands from the community got involved in the major re-balancing and forward motion with which DarkSpace is now moving at with tremendous speed.

We have now implimented a rather cunning AI into the game, allowing the server to be populated with these robotic players based on actual player count.  So even when there's one person in there, the AI are furiously working away, doing some of the work for you - all in the name of shooting stuff and blowing it up (what more could you want)!  Not only have we already implimented this, we are already working on an enhancement system, which basicly works as a loot drop system; allowing you to upgrade your ship either perminantly, or temporarily (un-decided as of yet).

When a few more key systems are in place, a free trail will be activated on all accounts (as is customairy with major DarkSpace releases), and a system-wide email will be sent out to tell players of the new and improved DarkSpace.

If you're a visiter here, and haven't ever played or seen DarkSpace, I suggest you do!  There's always a two week free trail for every new account, and even when the trail runs out, you can still play, albiet, limited to smaller ships.  It's great fun, and we have an incredible community!

Run along to www.darkspace.net now, and give it a whirl.

Stupid people...

Stupid people piss, me, off.

Seriously.  I can't stand stupid people.

I'll update this post when I'm less annoyed at stupid people!

Google Chrome

So, it seems Google have joined the browser rat race, with popular choices, IE, Firefox and Opera.

Under the news that Google were in process of releasing a browser to compete with the current market, I decided to download the beta and have a go.  I was very sceptical that it would actually perform, let alone be a match to Firefox or Opera, when contending against the "mighty" IE...

However, I was very wrong to have that view.  Google have created an almighty beast.  Sure, it lacks extensions like Firefox, but it's something Google are already working on with their own API, so I very much expect things like AdBlock/Plus to be ported over (even though Google love their own ads).

It's fast, minimalistic and clever.  I'd give it a go now if I were you.
